Martigues Power plant
The repowering of the Martigues power plant consists in transforming the fuel station into a two combined cycle plant to increase its power to 930MW.
In May 2009 Ponticelli signed a mechanical erection and E&I contract with General Electric (GE), supplier of the two gas turbines.
The erection of the first unit, TAC 5, is reaching its final stage, and the arrival on site on the 3rd of June of two heavy packages, the 9FB – 280MW turbine and the generator is the starting point of the second unit, TAC 6 which should be finished in a years’ time.
This project is a good example of our groups’ integration. Managed and carried out by the Industrial Division personnel, our local subsidiaries, SMRI for the mechanical works and Emis for the piping and acoustic works have actively contributed to the projects’ success.
Finally, thanks to the participation of EDF, of our client GE and the PF teams, the safety organisation on site has been exemplary.
The American management of GE awarded Pierre Humblot, the site Safety Manager for Global Thermal Energy activities, the Safety Challenge of the Year. Congratulations.
